GST acts as a replacement for experience points and serves as the in-app currency.

GST is primarily used within the STEPN app to level up and mint new NFT Sneakers. Players can choose to lease or sell their NFT Sneakers on the in-app Marketplace. The GST earnings are stored in the in-app Wallet, which includes a built-in Swap function. The token is distinct from GMT, which is the Governance Token of STEPN with a supply of 6 billion tokens.
How it works
Players earn GST by moving and leasing their NFT Sneakers. The tokens are minted through these activities and are subsequently burned as players progress through the social and gamification components of the app. The app was created by Find Satoshi Lab, an Australian-based fintech studio, which won the 2021 Solana Ignition Hackathon Gaming Track and is part of the DeFi Alliance Gaming cohort.
