Main features
The project introduces a powerful consensus algorithm called 'Proof-of-Believability,' which enhances transaction throughput speeds while ensuring node compliance. This is achieved by considering factors such as IOST token balance, reputation-based token balance, network contributions, and user behaviors. IOST also employs a faster grade Byzantine Fault Tolerance mechanism, microstate blocks, Atomic Commit protocol, and a dynamic sharding protocol known as Efficient Distributed Sharding. These features ensure that transactions are secure, consistent, and fast, while reducing storage, configuration costs, and processing power for validators.

IOST is designed to be inclusive, allowing anyone to participate in various layers of the system, from using services on the blockchain to running a node and validating transactions. The project's rules and code are open for public scrutiny, with no preconditions limiting participation. The project was co-founded by Terrace Wang, Kimmy Zhong, and Ray Xiao, along with 12 employees and 4 advisors. Notably, Ryan Bubiski, a co-founder of CodeAcademy and a recipient of the Times Most Influential People award, plays a significant role on the advisory board. IOST has partnered with approximately sixteen blockchain and cryptocurrency-oriented companies, including Sequoia, Nirvana Capital, and DFund, showcasing strong investor support.
