Receiving Crypto
How do I transfer cryptocurrency from an exchange/wallet to a Tangem Wallet?
You can transfer cryptocurrencies supported by the Tangem app to your wallet address. To do this, you'll need to generate a recipient address in the Tangem app.
Here's what you need to do:
1. Open the Tangem app and go to the homepage.
2. Tap the three dots in the top right corner.
3. Select the desired wallet.
4. Go to the Manage tokens section.
5. Find the cryptocurrency using the search bar.
6. You will see a toggle button to the right of the cryptocurrency. Tap on it, and the list of available networks will appear.
7. Turn on the toggle of the network you want and tap Save. You may need to scan your Tangem Wallet again.
Note: Make sure the sender and receiver networks are the same when you transfer tokens. Many tokens work on multiple networks. If you transfer using a different network than the sender's, you might lose the coins and they can't be recovered.
8. Once the token has been added to the homepage, tap on it, then tap Receive, and copy the public address using the Copy button.
Important: Ensure the token network in step 7 matches the transfer network chosen on the exchange.

Which network should I choose when transferring cryptocurrency to my wallet?
Only cryptocurrencies supported by the Tangem app can be transferred into your wallet. To see the complete list of supported cryptocurrencies, go to the Manage tokens section of the Tangem app.
Here's what to do:
1. Open the Tangem app.
2. Tap the three dots in the top right corner.
3. Select the preferred wallet.
4. Go to Manage tokens. You can find the cryptocurrency you want by using the search bar in the list of tokens.
5. Tap on the arrow next to the name of the cryptocurrency to see a list of available networks for the chosen token. You can use any of the listed networks.
When transferring crypto, you must ensure that the sender and recipient networks match, as many tokens operate on different networks simultaneously. If the transfer is made through a network other than the one the recipient specified when generating the address, the coins may be lost and cannot be recovered.
How do I transfer cryptocurrency if the required network is not supported in the wallet?
If you can't find the token you need in the Manage tokens section, you can add it to your wallet yourself.
This feature is available for the following networks: ApeChain, Arbitrum, Areon, Aurora, Avalanche C-Chain, BNB Beacon Chain, BNB Smart Chain, Base, Bitrock, Blast, Cardano, Canxium, Chiliz EVM, Cardano, Core, Cronos EVM, Cyber, Decimal Smart Chain, DisChain (Ethereum Fair), Ethereum, Ethereum Classic, Ethereum PoW, Fantom Opera, Flare, Gnosis Chain, Hedera, Hyperliquid EVM, Kaspa, Kava EVM, Manta Pacific, Mantle, Moonbeam, Moonriver, OctaSpace, Odyssey Chain, Optimistic Ethereum, PLAYA3ULL GAMES, Polygon, Polygon zkEVM, PulseChain, RSK, Shibarium, Solana, Sonic, Stellar, Telos, Ton, Tron, VeChain, XDC Network, Xodex, XRP Ledger, zkSync Era.
If the network or token you need is not in the Manage Tokens section or the list provided, it means that the wallet does not yet support it, and you won't be able to transfer it to your wallet.
How to add a custom token to the Tangem wallet
To create a custom token, do this:
1. Open the Tangem app.
2. Tap the three dots in the top right corner.
3. Select the preferred wallet.
4. Go to Manage tokens.
5. Tap + in the upper right corner of the list of tokens.
To add a token, you need the following information:
1. Token network.
2. The address of the token's smart contract — usually found on CoinMarketCap, CoinGecko, or the appropriate blockchain explorer.
3. Token name (e.g., BinaryX) and symbol (e.g., BNX).
4. The number of decimal places (Decimals). This parameter determines where one token can be split for operations. Decimals can be found in the relevant blockchain explorer.
5. Derivation path — typically set to Default.
Example of adding a custom token
For example, to add the BinaryX (BNX) token on the BNB Smart Chain, you need to fill out the fields as follows:
1. Contract address: 0x5b1f874d0b0C5ee17a495CbB70AB8bf64107A3BD
2. Network: BNB Smart Chain
3. Token name: BinaryX
4. Token symbol: BNX
5. Decimal places: 18
You can see the number of decimal places in the Explorer
6. Derivation path: Default
Detailed instructions are also available on our blog: How to add a custom token to the Tangem app.
Where can I view my transaction history?
Currently, the transaction history in the app is available for the Bitcoin, Ethereum, Avalanche C-Chain, BNB Smart Chain, Dash, Dogecoin, Ethereum Classic, Ethereum PoW, Litecoin, and Tron blockchains.
Transaction history can be viewed in the blockchain explorer and is also used for other blockchains. Here's how to do this:
1. Open the Tangem app.
2. Tap the coin/token you are interested in.
3. Scroll down and tap Explore transaction history. You will be redirected to the blockchain explorer.
Why did I receive 10 XRP less after transferring XRP to my wallet? What does "Account not created" mean?
In the XRP Ledger blockchain, an account is needed to participate. To create an account, you must deposit at least 10 XRP. This amount is set aside and cannot be withdrawn. For example, if you deposit 30 XRP, then 10 XRP will be reserved for the account, leaving you with a balance of 20 XRP that you can spend. This fee is a one-time account fee charged directly by the XRPL blockchain for creating a new wallet address on their network.
Why did I receive 1 XLM less after transferring XLM to my wallet? What does "Account not created" mean?
To use the Stellar blockchain, you need to create an account. To do this, you must deposit at least 1 XLM. Once your account is created, this amount is set aside and can't be withdrawn. For instance, if you add 5 XLM to your wallet, 1 XLM will be reserved for the account, leaving you with a balance of 4 XLM that you can use. Stellar charges this one-time fee for setting up a new wallet address on their network.
What tag/memo should I indicate when transferring tokens to the Tangem Wallet?
Destination tag/Memo/Message/Destination tag is an additional address value in numeric and/or string form. It is used to identify the specific recipient of an XRP, XLM, ATOM, TON, LUNA, LUNC, or ICP transfer on a centralized exchange (for example, Binance, Coinbase).
You do not need to specify a destination tag when sending the coins from the exchange to the Tangem Wallet. Since you control this address, the coins will automatically appear in your Tangem Wallet.
Some exchanges require you to provide a tag when withdrawing coins. You can choose any tag value, such as any number. However, these numbers do not affect your coins.
Why did I withdraw ETH from the exchange, but get WETH?
WETH (Wrapped Ethereum) are ETH coins that are not on their native network. If you send ETH on any network other than Ethereum, the tokens will appear as WETH in the Tangem Wallet.
How do I get my wallet address?
To get your wallet address, open the Tangem app, select the token from the wallet homepage, and tap Receive.
If the token is not on your wallet's homepage, follow these steps in the Tangem app:
1. Open the app and log in to your wallet.
2. Tap the three dots in the top right corner.
3. Select the desired wallet.
4. Go to Manage tokens.
5. Use the search bar to find the cryptocurrency you need.
6. You'll see a toggle button next to the cryptocurrency name. Click it to see a list of available networks.
7. Turn on the network you require and tap Save. You might need to scan your wallet at this point.
8. Once the token is added to the main page, click on it, select Receive, and you will see the public address and a Copy button.
Important: When transferring crypto, ensure that the sender and recipient networks match each other. Many tokens operate on different networks simultaneously. If a transfer is made using a different network than the recipient specified when generating the address, the coins may be lost and cannot be recovered.
Does the wallet address remain the same for the entire duration of use?
Yes, the wallet addresses for all cryptocurrencies are static. The public and private keys change only when you reset the device to factory settings and create a new wallet.
Why do different tokens have the same address?
The addresses of different tokens can be the same for several reasons. First, if tokens belong to the same network, their addresses will always match. Second, on many EVM-compatible blockchains, the addresses in the wallet may be identical for all tokens to facilitate transfers.
What does rent mean in the Solana network?
The Solana network imposes a rent fee directly through the blockchain, costing 0.000002439 SOL every two days. Accounts that cannot pay this rent will be removed from the network. However, if your account balance exceeds 0.00089088 SOL, you will not incur any rental fees.
What's the difference between legacy and default addresses?
There are two types of wallet addresses: Segwit and Legacy. Segwit is shown as "default" in the Tangem app, Legacy as "legacy".
When using a Segwit address, fees are approximately 30-40% lower than Legacy, and transaction processing speeds are faster. We offer two types of addresses in the app because not all exchanges support Segwit addresses. You can transfer funds using any of these addresses.
