Wallet Overview
What is Tangem Wallet?
Tangem Wallet is a non-custodial, cold wallet built on a powerful, certified Samsung chip for managing cryptocurrency and other digital assets.
It is safe, convenient, and designed for beginners and experienced crypto users.
Tangem Wallet supports thousands of tokens and networks and provides access to decentralized financial (DeFi) services.
The Tangem card or ring is the key to your wallet. You need to tap either of them on your phone's NFC area and enter an access code to access your funds.
Tangem Wallet provides two or three cards that can be used to create a backup. If one is lost or stolen, the backup devices allow you to regain access to the wallet, while the access code ensures that unauthorized parties cannot access your funds.
You need an NFC-enabled smartphone with the Tangem app to access your wallet. Keep your Tangem Wallet in your pocket or purse, ready for use at any time, anywhere.
How can I use Tangem Wallet?
Tangem Wallet provides secure and anonymous storage of crypto assets, making them inaccessible to third parties. The cryptocurrency in the wallet is securely stored until needed and can be easily exchanged for local currency worldwide.
With Tangem Wallet, you can also
— Receive cryptocurrency
— Store cryptocurrency in stablecoins
— Send cryptocurrency to other wallets
— Pay for goods and services offered by companies that accept cryptocurrency
— Exchange cryptocurrency directly in the app
— Invest and earn money in the cryptocurrency market via staking, trading, and farming.
— Create, buy, and sell NFTs on various platforms via yield-generating tools in the DeFi space
— Withdraw income and accumulate it in one convenient and secure place
What sets Tangem Wallet apart from other cold wallets?
Simplicity and reliability are the main advantages of the Tangem wallet, which can always be with you wherever you are. Tangem doesn't need to be charged or connected to other devices via wires.
Tangem devices conveniently fit on your finger or in your pockets and allow you to sign transactions anywhere. Using the Tangem Wallet is as simple as possible: tap the card against your smartphone to access your cryptocurrencies.
The Tangem Wallet is highly secure, as evidenced by its Common Criteria EAL6+ chip certification and two firmware audits from Kudelski Security (2018) and Riscure (2023).
It is the only hardware wallet in the world with an IP69 environmental protection rating.
While other hardware wallets are designed for geeks and created by geeks, we've combined ease of use and maximum security to make the Tangem Wallet accessible to everyone.
Can I use a seed phrase in my wallet?
The use of seed phrases is optional. There are three private key generation methods available in the Tangem wallet:
1. Using a True Random Number Generator (TRNG) generates keys inside the wallet's chip and stores them there. Neither Tangem nor anyone else can access them (the recommended method).
2. Generating a seed phrase* in the Tangem app and then importing it into the card/ring.
3. Importing your seed phrase* from another wallet. Unlike private keys generated in the wallet, a seed phrase can be copied and stolen.
For more information on seed phrase technology and our approach, see our blog post: Everything About Seed Phrases in Tangem Wallet.
However, all wallet setup methods serve the same purpose: safeguarding your keys. No one, not even a thief, an employee of Tangem, or the owner, can gain access to them. The key is permanently embedded within the card and cannot be extracted under any circumstances.

Can I use my Tangem Wallet to pay for a purchase in a store?
The Tangem Wallet is not a payment tool like your bank's credit card. If the store owner supports cryptocurrency payments, you can transfer funds to their address and pay for the product or service. However, if you are referring to using a card like a bank card, that feature is not yet available.
Can I create a wallet with one Tangem device?
No, creating a backup with an additional device is compulsory in second-generation Tangem Wallets. Therefore, you need at least two devices to make one wallet.
Can I use one wallet on multiple smartphones?
You can use the wallet on an unlimited number of devices simultaneously. The phone does not store any assets; it only acts as a display, showing specific data for a particular user on its screen. The Tangem device stores private keys and signs transactions.
To use the wallet on a new phone, simply install the app, scan the wallet, and enter the correct access code.
Can I use multiple wallets on one smartphone?
You can use an unlimited number of wallets on one mobile device, each with its own unique set of cards. All these wallets can be conveniently managed in one Tangem app.
How much can I keep on my Tangem Wallet?
The wallet has no amount restrictions: you can store or transfer any amount.
How many devices can be linked to a wallet?
You can use up to three devices as backups for your wallet. If you've set up your wallet with a seed phrase, you can make as many backups as you want by importing that seed phrase to multiple devices.
