What is Open Campus and who created it?

The Open Campus Protocol is a decentralized platform designed to address significant challenges in the education sector. It aims to empower educators, content creators, parents, students, and co-publishers by providing a solution that values the critical role of educators in shaping future generations. Despite their importance, educators are often undervalued and underpaid, and parents frequently lack control over their children's educational content. Open Campus seeks to change this dynamic by offering a platform where educational content can be created, owned, shared, and sold.

Key features of Open Campus blockchain

Open Campus is unique as it is the first education protocol that empowers the teacher ecosystem to create, own, share, and sell their educational content. The protocol plans to establish an EDU foundation that enables content creators to utilize NFT technology to monetize their creations with financial support from co-publishers. This innovative approach allows educators to gain more control and financial benefits from their work.

How Open Campus transactions work

The project began in 2023 with support from various launch partners, including Animoca Brands, The Sandbox, and TinyTap. The protocol's main NFT publication, Publisher NFT, was adopted by TinyTap and resulted in an auction last year with a sale of 243 ETH. The EDU token powers all educational activities within the EDU Foundation, including a peer review system, smart donations, the purchase and sale of Publisher NFTs, and scholarship granting. The project plans to continue building out the marketplace for content creators to create and sell assets, and enable foundation features such as Smart Donation and Scholarship Grants.
